General information

The aim of the course is to introduce the method of social enterpreneurship that combine sustainable business models with social innovation and vocational rehabilitation.

This course aims to provide a unique educational experience and opportunity to understand some of the latest developments in social work and related fields. In lectures, interactive seminars and field visits we will look beyond traditional fields in the practice of social work and explore new fields and ideas together.

Within the framework of Tallinn University Summer School, the Social Enterprise course will be organized for the third time. The Shool of Governance, Law and Society has started a comprehensive development program combining education with research and development in order to strengthen the spirit of entrepreneurship in the field of social work and social services.

Social enterprises are combining modern rehabilitation and social services with sustainable business models. Especially in middle and low income countries, where social expenditures are very limited, social enterprises can play a very important role in social innovation.

Our Summer School course provides an insight for the participants into the world of Estonian Social Enterprises highlighting the latest developments in the field.

This five-day course consists of lectures and seminars/workshops on social enterprises. It is not only start-ups and art projects that can be cool and creative. With a good idea that has both business potential and provide rehabilitation, people who face disadvantages can move from being “patients” and “clients” to citizen participants and even entrepreneurs. Social enterprises are moving the design and image of modern rehabilitation services in fascinating directions, emphasizing the abilities of every individual and the creative side of social work.
