General information

The ESC doctoral program brings together PhD students of the School of Criminal Justice (École des Sciences Criminelles – ESC, University of Lausanne) as well as any PhD student from a university delivering a PhD in forensic science or criminology. The aim of the program is to allow PhD students to develop their network as well as generic cross-disciplinary skills for successfully conducting their PhD research, but also to prepare them to their professional career. This objective is achieved by offering specialized workshops and activities, at the University campus as well as in the frame of a summer school in the Swiss Alps. The proposed activities promote the active participation of the PhD students, for example by allowing them to present their work through lectures and posters sessions.

Accommodation

All the participants will be staying at the Hotel Cristal, Saignelégiers, in Jura, where the event takes place.

Registration

Participants should send their abstracts through the online application form, after their participation is confirmed. You will receive relevant information by email, when submitting your registration online. Please use the following template to submit your abstract.

Fees

In 2018, the fees are as followed: CHF 784.00 for a single room, CHF 579.00 for a shared double room. The fees include:

  • Participation fees
  • 4 nights in Hotel Cristal
  • All the meals for the duration of the event

Grant opportunities
Until May 1, PhD students from a foreign university can apply for a grant covering the staying fees in Saignelégiers for the duration of the event (hotel in double room + meal) – please note that the travelling fees are consequently not included in this offer. The night before the start of the Summer school is covered by the grant. The number of grants is limited. If you want to apply for one of these grants, please join a short text motivating your participation to the Summer School when sending your subscription form. In order to be able to help PhD students from various locations, the number of grants allowed to PhD students coming from a same institution will be limited.
