General information

The course will be held at the computer lab of the Department of Economics and Finance at Tallinn University of Technology over three days from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday, 10 June to Friday, 12 June 2020.
The objective of the course is to teach participants how to:

  • Estimate DSGE models: classical and Bayesian estimation (Day 1)
  • Forecast with DSGE models: mean, median, density forecast (Day 2)
  • Evaluate the accuracy of forecasts: ex-post forecasting competitions (Day 3)

The course is aimed at academic and applied researchers, doctoral students as well as advanced Master students. The course will use Matlab and Dynare software. You can either use the classroom computers or your own laptop. The course requires basic knowledge of the three equation New Keynesian model and basic knowledge of Matlab.

We are pleased to host Michał Rubaszek, Associate Professor and the Head of the Financial Markets Modelling Unit at Warsaw School of Economics as the course instructor. He has long-term experience in central banking (National Bank of Poland as well as European Central Bank) and he has authored numerous publications on forecasting with DSGE models.

Accommodation

A limited number of single/twin rooms are available for the summer school participants at the Academic Hostel in the university campus at a special price of 30 EUR per night per room (no breakfast included). Registration

Online registration facility is available at our website (http://www.taltech.ee/ecee). We kindly ask participants to register for the event latest by 15 April 2020 – as the computer lab has limited space we recommend to register as early as possible to secure a place. The summer school participation fee is EUR 100 per participant that includes lunches and coffee breaks. The
participation fee is payable by 15 April 2020. The special price for those who participate at both the “Economic Challenges in Enlarged Europe” Conference and Summer School is EUR 400 (EUR 270 for students) if you register and make the payment by 15 April 2020
