Conference "Towards a Common European Asylum System: The Added Value of the Legislative Package of 2nd Generation", Brussels, 8-9 April

Towards a Common European Asylum System: The Added Value of the Legislative Package of 2nd Generation

Université libre de Bruxelles - 44 avenue Jeanne - Salle DUPREEL - 1050 Brussels – Belgium

Tuesday 8 April from 9.00 to 18.00 and Wednesday 9 April from 9.00 to 13.00

This European congress provides the audience with a double level of analysis: firstly, a "vertical" analysis of the new instruments by a general report in order to understand the novelties introduced by the new instruments and to measure the progress accomplished with more harmonisation at EU level; secondly, a "horizontal" analysis of several questions throughout the instruments in order to evaluate their coherence by a panel of speakers. The final purpose is to evaluate to which extent we have progressed towards a CEAS (Common European Asylum System) and what could be the next steps if it cannot be considered as finalised, in particular in view of the strategic guidelines to be adopted by the European Council in June for the operational and legislative planning in the area of Freedom, Security and Justice for the next five years.
